How do I schedule my colonoscopy?

From your first message to your results, in four steps. No surprises: the $8,000 MXN already includes the prep medication.

1

Message or call us

On WhatsApp at +52 686 433 5834 or by phone at +52 686 516 8038. We help you pick the dates for your evaluation and your exam around your schedule.

2

Evaluation & instructions

At the visit, the doctor reviews your symptoms and medications and gives you the prep medication with written instructions.

3

Prep, the day before

Clear-liquid diet and the medication exactly as instructed. Bring a companion: after sedation you can't drive that day.

4

Exam & results

30 to 45 minutes, under sedation. Before you leave, the doctor walks you through the report. If a polyp was removed, you'll hear when the biopsy is back and when to repeat the exam.

Why get your colonoscopy with a colorectal surgeon?

A colorectal surgeon has subspecialized exclusively in the colon, rectum and anus. Colonoscopy is part of their everyday work, not an occasional test.

If a polyp shows up during the exam, it is removed right then and sent for analysis, with no second appointment or sedation. And if anything needs treatment (hemorrhoids, a fissure or a lesion that requires surgery), the same specialist who performed your exam takes care of it, already knowing your case.

When should you get a colonoscopy?

🎂 Age 45+The recommended age for your first colonoscopy, even with no symptoms. If it's normal, the next one is in 10 years.🩸 Rectal bleedingRed blood on the paper or in the toilet, or very dark stools. Often it's hemorrhoids, but a polyp or other cause must be ruled out.👨‍👩‍👧 Family history of colon cancerIf a parent, sibling or child had colon cancer or polyps, start at 40, or 10 years before the age they were diagnosed.🔄 Chronic diarrhea and constipationBowel changes lasting more than 3–4 weeks: days of diarrhea and days of constipation, or narrower stools than usual.🔁 Polyps in previous colonoscopiesIf polyps were removed in a previous colonoscopy, you need a follow-up one. The doctor tells you when, based on how many and what type.

What is a colonoscopy? Explained in 2 minutes

If you've never had one, it's normal to have questions. This video from Hospital Universitario Clínico San Cecilio explains it clearly, with nothing graphic. (In Spanish.)

  • What it is and what the exam looks at
  • What it's for: finding and removing polyps early
  • How patients prepare

What a real colonoscopy looks like

This is Dr. Cervantes during an exam. While the patient sleeps under sedation, the camera moves slowly and he checks every fold of the colon on the HD screen.

  • The patient is asleep and feels no pain
  • If a polyp appears, it's removed right then
  • Afterwards, the doctor explains what he saw

Frequently asked questions

Does a colonoscopy hurt?

No. It’s done under sedation: you sleep through the procedure, wake up remembering nothing, and any discomfort afterward is minimal.

What does the $8,000 MXN package include?

The pre-procedure evaluation, the prep medication (often charged separately elsewhere), the sedated procedure ⚠, a report reviewed with you, and follow-up. ⚠ If a biopsy is taken, pathology is quoted separately — to be confirmed.

At what age should I get my first one?

At 45, even without symptoms. Earlier if you have bleeding, symptoms or family history of colon cancer.

What is the prep like?

The day before, you take the prep medication (included) and follow a liquid diet. You get written instructions and WhatsApp support.

How long does it take?

The procedure takes 30–45 minutes. Counting sedation recovery, you’re typically on your way home within a few hours, the same day.

Do I need someone with me?

Yes — because of the sedation you shouldn’t drive that day, so bring a companion ⚠.

Do hemorrhoids always need surgery?

No. Most are managed with medication or office procedures. Surgery is reserved for advanced cases, and decided together with you.

Do you take urgent cases?

Yes. For acute pain, heavy bleeding or an abscess, message us on WhatsApp and we’ll get you in as soon as possible.

Insurance and payment?

We work with GNP, AXA and MetLife (Mexican insurers) ⚠. Cash, card, transfer and installments accepted. For U.S. insurance, we provide documentation for reimbursement claims ⚠.

When do I get results?

The report is explained to you the same day. ⚠ Biopsy results take a few days — timing to be confirmed.
